We moved here in 1997 and never left. It is a courthouse-square town that has kept its old bones, and it is where The Arith House sits.

Where to eat
in town
Hanford punches above its size for food. Three places we would point you at first.
- Downtown Hanford
- Superior Dairy On the square since 1929. Burgers, and ice cream portions that defeat most people who order them.
- La Fiesta Mexican, on North Green Street. Colima and Michoacan cooking, full bar, and a long-standing favourite in town.
- Fugazzis New American and Italian on West Seventh Street. Steaks, pasta and seafood, and the one to book for a proper dinner. Closed Sundays.

The Thursday
Night Market
Through the summer, downtown Hanford fills up around Civic Park every Thursday evening.
Local produce, food stalls, live music, a beer garden, theme nights, and a petting zoo for anyone small. It runs half past five until nine, and vendors take cash or card.
If your stay lands on a Thursday between May and October, go. It is the most reliably good night out in town, and it costs nothing to walk around.

The centre of old Hanford, and the best twenty minutes you can spend on foot here. Most of downtown radiates out from it.
Hanford Carnegie Museum
Local history in a building that is itself part of the story. Small, and worth an hour if you like that sort of thing.
The neighbourhood park
A family park at the end of our street, built for this development. Two minutes on foot from The Arith House and good for burning off energy.

Worth The Drive
Fresno
About 34 miles north, and where most of the Valley goes for bigger shopping, a proper night out, or a concert. It is also the closest major airport. Fresno Yosemite International, FAT, serves the whole San Joaquin Valley and is the usual way in for anyone flying to Sequoia or Kings Canyon.
